Another week, another poll

Posted at October 10, 2006 11:15 PM in College Football .

Not much introduction for this one. In my picks I went 13-3 straight up (never looked at the spread, but I don't doubt that I would have faired poorly, although my predicted scores were atypically on the money, so maybe I would have surprised myself). I'll try predictions again this week.

My new Top 25 poll:

My Rank Last Rank Team Record Last Game Prediction
1 6-0 35-7 win over Bowling Green Win at Michigan State 31-14
4 6-0 23-10 win over LSU in the Swamp, it wasn't that close 10-16 loss at Auburn
3 4-0 26-20 win over Washington, some shitty officiating prevented the Huskies from taking a last shot at the go-ahead TD. 45-24 win over Arizona State
9 6-0 31-13 win over Michigan State. These guys look like the real deal and it should come down to them versus Ohio State for a berth in the title game. 21-17 win at Penn State
8 5-1 28-10 win over Oklahoma, they are starting to get their swagger back, the defense was laying mofos out. Win 38-10 over Baylor
5 5-0 44-17 win over Middle Tennessee State. QB Brian Brohm might this week. Win 35-13 over Cincinnati
6 5-0 42-14 win at Mississippi State Win 42-3 over Syracuse
13 5-1 51-33 ass kicking they dropped on Georgia. No game
2 4-1 10-27 loss to Arkansas. They looked sluggish coming off a brutally physical game agaisnt LSU; it won't get any easier. 16-10 win over Florida
18 5-1 45-24 win over Oregon. This team is looking like the top 10 team they were expected to be. If USC can hang on until then, Cal will give them their first loss. 31-21 win at Washington State
12 5-1 27-17 win against Wake Forest, but they were on the ropes before they dropped 24 4th quarter points on the Demon Deacons. 56-0 win over Temple on Thursday night
7 4-2 10-23 loss at Florida. They've lost two games to two very good teams, but the offense has just disappeared. 35-7 win over Kentucky
15 5-1 31-10 win over Stanford. I don't think this team is that good, but they'll continue to creap up during this soft part of the schedule. No game
19 5-1 28-14 win at Iowa State. I can't decide if this team is for real. 24-17 win at Kansas State
10 5-1 33-51 loss to Tennessee. This is a mid teens kind of team. The offense just has issues. 21-7 win over Vanderbilt
14 3-2 10-28 loss against Texas. Like Georgia, this is a mid teens calibre squad. The big question: Holiday or Cotton Bowl? 24-10 win over Iowa State
11 4-1 24-45 loss to California. Clearly the third best team in the PAC-10. 35-17 win over UCLA
17 4-1 No game. This team seems way to shaky and inconsistent for a Virginia Tech team. Boston College will give them a good fight. 16-17 loss at Boston College on Thursday night
20 5-1 27-23 win over Maryland. These guys are hard to read, they play up or down to the level of their opponent. No game
21 6-0 55-14 win over Louisiana Tech. They don't really play anybody, so if they keep winning they'll gradually rise to no better than 10th pending a convincing bowl win. 48-17 win over New Mexico State on Sunday night
23 5-1 47-17 win over Purdue. I don't trust these guys. They're the best of the second tier Big 11 teams, but I can't justify a rank higher than 20 until they convince me. 42-3 win at Indiana
24 6-0 38-21 win at Texas Tech. Another team I don't trust. A win against a shitty A&M team with a great home-field advantage would show a lot. 17-20 loss at Texas A&M
22 4-1 No game 17-16 win over Virginia Tech on Thursday night
NR 4-1 27-10 physical domination of Auburn on the road. These guys are due for a let down, but their schedule will prevent it. 42-3 win over Southeast Missouri
25 5-0 No game. They finally get a chance to prove something with a game against a solid Navy team. 24-27 loss at Navy
Dropped Out: Florida State (16)
