In my first week, the outright winner of the games seemed very clear to me. This week the decisions were much more difficult. In many matchups the more talented team was on the road in a hostile environment causing me to guess at the effects of the home crowd.
As for the Texas-OU game, that went about as I expected it to go. The Horns lost, but weren't embarrassed. I had to sacrifice a correct pick in the hope that picking the Horns to win would bring some good karma to the table. Surprisingly I don't think Greg Davis did a terrible job of playcalling (I still he sucks). The Longhorns couldn't take advantage of good field position and they turned it over at bad times. The O-line just couldn't control OU like it needed to. Adrian Peterson had a great game, but even allowing 200 yards to the freshmen, UT kept it close and the defense made big plays. No tears will be shed over this one. UT fans had to see this coming.
I'm proud of my LSU over UF pick. The Tigers fought off two terrible turnovers inside their 20 to fight back for a win in the Swamp. I think my pick for Michigan was well reasoned (even though everything said take Minnesota) as you can't ignore the Wolverines home record. Wisconsin did well for me too. The FSU-Syracuse game turned out as I thought it would and it appears that every Seminoles quarterback sucks. Even though my pick was wrong, I wasn't shocked by Georgia Tech's road win against the Terps (RB PJ Daniels played, I didn't think he would.) The Vols impressed me with their win over Georgia, but the fact is the Dogs had nothing left after last week's game versus LSU, they came out flat and took too long to get it together (the Vols were getting hellacious pressure with just a 4 man rush). I was off badly with my Arizona-UCLA pick. However, I think Mike Stoops' team will sneak up on one of their ranked PAC-10 opponents before the season is over.
Here is a list of results for the games I made picks on:
| Away | Result | Home | SU | ATS |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| OU | 12 - 0 | UT | L | L |
| Cal | 17 - 23 | USC | W | L |
| Tenn | 19 - 14 | UGA | L | L |
| FSU | 17 - 13 | Syr | W | W |
| LSU | 24 - 21 | UF | W | W |
| Minn | 24 - 27 | Mich | W | L |
| OkSt | 42 - 14 | Col | W | W |
| Wisc | 24 - 13 | OSU | W | W |
| GT | 20 - 7 | Mary | L | L |
| Ariz | 17 - 37 | UCLA | L | L |
Straight up I went 6-4, bringing my season record to 15-5. Against the spread I went 4-6, bringing my season record to 10-10 (a money losing record had I been betting on these games).
I plan on having my picks finished by late Wednesday afternoon because there is a good game on both Wednesday night and Thursday night. If the point spread changes enough between Wednesday and Friday night to change one of my picks then I will mention that in the comments section.
